May 20, 2016

Day 7 - Frankenmuth, MI to Traverse City, MI - 225 Miles

Had a great lunch at the Bavarian Inn. Chicken Schnitzel with crispy ham, Gouda Cheese and a garlic sauce with a fried egg on top, served on a slice of country bread.

The Cheese Haus Mouse!
A fountain in downtown with wonderful bronze statues
A cute covered bridge in downtown that leads to the parking lot
A very funny sign in front of the Cheese Haus! lol!

Frankenmuth, MI was founded in 1845 by a group of 15 German-Lutheran missionaries who came to the area for the purpose of teaching Christianity to the Chippewa Indians.  “Franken” depicts the Bavarian province from which the settlers came and “Muth” means courage in German.

The ladies from the Frankenmuth Fudge Shop tempering a fresh batch of fudge! Yummy!

Browsed the Funky Skunk, the dog store and Bronner's Christmas Store, the largest in the country.

In Kaleva, MI there was a large grasshopper statue.

Spending the night at Timber Ridge RV and Recreation Resort, Traverse City, MI
