Fairbanks, AK
This lack of internet is killing me! Went gold-panning at Daughter's Gold Mine, owned by the daughter of a miner whose family has been featured in 16 TV shows, both reality and national geographic documentary. She just completed her degree in geology and seemed to be able to answer our questions pretty well.
Found some gold and and a couple of garnets; had a fun afternoon washing rocks. I had the gold I panned put into a key chain as a moment....
Spent Saturday and Sunday quilting and reorganizing the RV. Marnie flew in from Indiana flew on Sunday afternoon, July 3rd. We shopped for provisions on the 4th of July in preparation or our excursion tomorrow. We are taking a 4-day trip from Fairbanks due north through Coldfoot Camp, across the Arctic Circle to Deadhorse Camp, at the top of the world. We are taking a tour of the oil fields/glaciers etc. at Prudhoe Bay. We'll be spending our first and third nights at Coldfoot, and second night in Deadhorse. No phone, no internet, no anything. The plan is to hopefully be back to civilization on the night of July 8th. The little girl, Ryder, is going to the spa for these couple days and will return with half the fluff she has now have and a whole lot less food stored in her cheeks.
